It has come to our attention that some of our authors are unclear about our guidelines. While we work towards continuing to improve our website and making it more accessible to our authors, we would like to provide a summary of our author guidelines for you here. 

Papers may be submitted either in English or French and will be published in the language of submission. They should generally not exceed 7500 words and must be submitted in electronic form (word processed, double-spaced).

All submissions are subject to our anonymous peer review process by independent experts. Shorter papers, including commentaries and book reviews, are also welcome.

REFUGE adheres to the Chicago Manual of Style for social science papers and to the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation for papers in the legal discipline.

Papers must be prepared with full citation endnotes rather than with a bibliography. Papers should include an abstract of approximately 100-150 words, highlighting the central arguments and/or findings of the paper. Papers should also include a phrase indicating institutional affiliation.

Les contributions peuvent être en français ou en anglais et seront publiées dans la langue originale. Elles doivent être en format électronique (dactylographiées à double-interligne) et ne doivent pas excéder 7500 mots. Chaque texte sera soumis à notre processus d'évaluation externe avec experts indépendants tout en préservant l'anonymat de l'auteur. Les articles plus courts, y compris les comptes-rendus et les recensions, sont également bienvenus.

Les références doivent suivre généralement le Chicago Manual of Style et doivent être présentées sous forme de notes à la fin du texte (et non dans une bibliographie). Tous les manuscrits, à l'exception des recensions de livres, doivent être accompagnés d'un résumé de 100 à 150 mots et d'une phrase décrivant l'affiliation institutionnelle de l'auteur.
