Abstract

Steacie Science & Engineering library started a new books blog in November 2006. This blog was used primarily to inform faculty members and graduate students about new print books acquired by the science library. During the initial days of the blog, jacket covers of books were scanned and then images were uploaded to the Steacie Word Press blog. This was a time consuming process. With the introduction of Open WorldCat, books are now directly linked to the library catalogue. Users can directly click on the Search your library link from the WorldCat record and locate the book in our library. The blog is increasingly being used to highlight new e-resources including e-books and e-journals. It is promoted at graduate student open houses and new faculty member orientation sessions. Student and faculty members are encouraged to submit book requests through the comments section on the blog.
